Sauna
Designed by architect Heikki Riitahuhta, TSUDOI is a sauna-equipped accommodation and the first hospitality project in Japan created by Studio Puisto. Based in Helsinki, Finland, Studio Puisto is an architectural design studio known for creating spaces that connect people with nature. The firm works internationally on sustainable architecture, hotels, resorts, and saunas, with a focus on harmonizing the built environment with the natural world and enriching the relationship between people and their surroundings.
TSUDOI was designed to make the most of its rich natural setting along the Kuzuryu River. Inspired by Finnish sauna culture, which values a deep connection with nature, the entire journey from the sauna to outdoor relaxation is conceived as a ritual, allowing guests to slow down, reconnect, and fully immerse themselves in the surrounding landscape.
On the terrace, guests can also enjoy a handcrafted Shigaraki-yaki ceramic bathtub created by skilled artisans. Soak in its warm texture and distinctive character while taking in the beauty of nature unfolding before you, and savor a truly luxurious moment of relaxation.
In this unique space where the Finnish appreciation of nature meets the tradition of Japanese craftsmanship, enjoy a peaceful retreat and allow both body and mind to gently unwind.
Guest Rooms
The name TSUDOI embodies the idea of people coming together and sharing meaningful moments. Whether spending time with family, friends, or loved ones, enjoy a peaceful stay while taking in the natural beauty of the Kuzuryu River from the privacy and comfort of an exclusive whole-house rental.
The property also features artwork by MAGO, a contemporary artist from Fukui Prefecture. MAGO creates his works using discarded materials and reinvests proceeds from his art into projects such as building recycling facilities in local communities. He is also involved in environmentally conscious initiatives, including sustainable agriculture and electric mobility projects. Through his creative activities in Japan and abroad, MAGO explores themes of coexistence with nature and circular sustainability.
In harmony with the tranquil riverside setting and the slow rhythm of time at TSUDOI, his artworks bring additional depth and character to the guestrooms. Surrounded by a space where art, nature, and sustainability intersect, guests are invited to experience moments of reflection, connection, and relaxation.
